An Exploration of Student Interpreters’ Attitudes Towards the Undergraduate Interpreting Training Programmes at Yemeni Universities

This study investigates the attitudes of trainee interpreters towards their training programmes at Yemeni universities. 61 in Taiz province participated study. A 16-item questionnaire was designed to explore programmes. The findings this show that are not satisfied with current results also programme does adequately enhance interpreting competence would-be interpreters. is mainly concerned enhancement linguistic and cultural competencies, paying less attention other components such as instrumental, psycho-physiological, strategic. respondents content instructional modules, activities used training, time allocated for practicums, amount technology integration. has investigated directionality beginner advanced student Al-Saeed University by quantitatively analysing final scores modules. Beginner groups demonstrate different levels both directions. from various statistical tools interpreters, whether beginners or advanced, more competent interpret into mother tongue, while very few them balanced skills Additionally, overall directions do reflect expected level proficiency.
